Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

Stafford just released this press release about unlocked car doors. This is a problem in the Harbour as well. This a favorite summer past-time for young adults and we have had GPS, laptops, sunglasses and money stolen from unlocked autos this summer and - important note: NO forced entry thefts. Please keep your car doors locked.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

Stafford, Va. The Stafford County Sheriffs Office is requesting that citizens make every effort to lock and secure their motor vehicles at night or during the day when the vehicles are not in use.

From January 1 of 2009 to mid August of 2009 the Stafford County Sheriffs Office has responded to 155 reports of larceny from vehicles in situations where the vehicles were unlocked. The value of the items stolen during these larcenies is in excess of $34,000.00.

These kinds of larcenies are frequently crimes of convenience. Individuals committing these...

We have a “tagger” (i.e someone with a can of spray paint, not enough supervision and no respect for other’s people’s property) making the rounds in the Harbour this summer. Recently this tagger has spray painted several cars, a driveway, a picnic table at Friendship Park and this weekend - a garage door in the 2400 block of Harpoon Drive. Normally I wouldn’t waste this space to acknowledge such a lame effort for attention but there is a good chance that someone out there knows who this tagger is and I am looking for information so that I can better acquaint this person with a Stafford County Judge. Taggers often have notebooks filled with their delusions of artistry and will mark their own personal items with their tag line which in this case is “TFA”. If anyone has any idea who this tagger might be, please contact the Aquia Harbour Police Department.

I’m sure there are questions being asked today about the 14 officers, 10 cruisers and a police K-9 that descended upon a street in Section III at 1:00 a.m. this morning – sorry to disturb. Just to keep you in the loop….

We had a boating incident on the creek where a boat was driving recklessly, took out a resident’s dock and then fled the scene. AHPD Officers were recently trained in waterborne law enforcement tactics and investigations and with the help of the Boating Power Squadron (a boating safety organization) were able to get on the water immediately and handle the investigation. Several hours after the incident we located the suspect vessel parked in Section III. During our attempt to identify the vessel operator the alleged suspect came outside of the house and then retreated refusing to answer the door or the phone. Then a very loud noise was heard from inside the house by officers and immediate neighbors and we had a welfare issue on our hands as well as a criminal...
