Aquia Harbour

Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

Aquia Harbour is indeed fortunate to have a new Chief of Police who has the desire and potential to elevate the status of our police department to new heights. Her name is Patricia Trish Harmon and she recently retired from a long and successful career in law enforcement with the Prince William County Police Department. She has impressive credentials and a long list of accomplishments and professional honors.

On her second day on the job she had a plan to manage the duty shifts in the department in an innovate way that would serve the residents better and garner full support of the duty officers. She seems to be fully committed to the concept of community policing and building camararderie with the officers in her charge.

I will encourage her to introduce herself to you in this forum and if you see her out and about, I encourage you to give her a warm welcome and your full support.

The Annual Election for the AHPOA Board of Directors is fast approaching and the time is now to consider serving your community as a member of the Board of Directors where you can make a difference and make a significant contribution to your community. This year there will be 3 openings on the board and at least two of the current directors will not be seeking re election, perhaps even all three. The nominating committee is now accepting applications for nomination. This process will close on September 1st, less than two weeks away. In order to be considered for nomination as a candidate you must be a member in good standing, get nomination papers from the office and solicit signatures from 30 members of the association. The completed package must be submitted to the office by Sept. 1st along with a brief resume.

If there are only three candidates for the three openings there will be less incentive to vote and a quorum of eligible voters may not be achieved.
