Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

The business office is now selling pool passes and punch cards. Punch cards purchased last summer are no longer valid. Pool passes expire at the same time as the association membership card on which the pool pass sticker has been placed. Pool passes on the back of FY10 association membership cards are good until June 30, 2010. For more information visit the pool page on the Aquia Harbour website.

Again this year, communities across the United States will come together during National Police Week—May 9-15—to honor and remember those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the family members, friends and fellow officers they left behind.

This year, the names of 116 names of fallen officers from 2009 will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. AHPD Officers will shroud their badges this week in honor of these officers and their families.

Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance in the United States that pays tribute to the local, state, and Law Enforcement officers. The Memorial takes place on May 15, and Police Week is the calendar week in which the Memorial falls. Many memorial events occur during this week including a candlelight vigil at the National Police Memorial in D.C.

The holiday was created in 1961 when Congress asked the president to designate May 15th to honor peace...

To anyone aware, concerned or hearing rumblings about the incident at Brook Point High School this morning. All is well.

The school is still on lock down but the ALL CLEAR has been sounded by the Stafford Sheriffs Office – who flawlessly executed their response. Suspicious activity by two subjects prompted an emergency response - law enforcement no longer takes any chances or wastes any time when something looks wrong. “Persons of interest have been identified by the Sheriff’s Office who will be following up but at no time were students put at risk.
