Aquia Harbour

Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

Wow! Now that was a storm!

As of Sunday at 1400 hours the roads are passable but there are many many slick spots that are still making travel very dangerous and it will be an ice skating rink tonight. Outside of the Harbour its even worse except for most heavily traveled roads.

ROAD CREW - Our road crew is doing their best to keep up with the continuous snow fall and refreezing. The road crews are getting some much needed rest but will be back in this evening to continue clearing and treating roads. Residents are encouraged to stay home. It will probably take at least another 24 hours before travel is recommended.

POLICE AND GATE - The Gate staff made it in, as they always do, to make sure that Gate Security went uninterrupted. The storm was handled by Lt. Thompson - who spent the night in the station and Officers Hurlbut, Erler and Debrular who worked extended hours to ensure that residents needs were met and had 2 to 4 hour rides home following thier shifts....

Important:- Should road conditions force the closing of the 1100 block of Richmond Drive (the second left turn as you enter the Harbour), the designated alternative route is the next left turn (John Paul Jones Drive).

Residents are reminded that streets should be kept free of parked vehicles, so that the snow ploughs can clear the roads. Main thoroughfares will be ploughed first, followed by side roads and then cul-de-sacs. Please be patient with the snow ploughs. When it is snowing the crew does work continuously covering all 38 miles of Aquia Harbours roads. Unless you have urgent business, residents are encouraged to stay home during inclement weather.
