Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

The AHPD will currently be running radar at the request of residents at the following locations;

o Aquia & Voyage
o Dewey Drive
o Richmond Drive
o Harpoon Drive

Remind your teens and all drivers in your home - ALL roads in Aquia are 25 MPH. It is really easy for speed to creep up in these locations but the residents who live on these hills and straight aways and have requested radar are entitled to safe roads. Beware... all to often we end up stopping the person who made the radar request - hate that!

We have had some concern expressed recently about tightening up security at the Gate so we decided to do a 30 minute sticker check at the Gate using officers in traffic vests to raise awareness, visibility and enforcement of Gate runners - which unfortunately happens most frequently at rush hour. We got a lot of interesting feedback. We have done this on one other occasion and we notice many people switching from the resident lane to the visitor lane when they see us so its really effective but it does slow things down, so we dont do it often - its annoying when youre trying to get home.

Some of you loved it and told us - some you really didnt...and told us. Let us hear from you. If you do want the Gate tightened up - how would you like to see it done?

My position is that the Gate is as much a psychological barrier as it is a physical one and I think the Gate and the Guards do a great job controlling access to the Harbour. Its not air tight by any means but it...

Each worker wears an official census bureau badge but should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the business office (659-3050) or our police department (659-4600).
