Aquia Harbour is the premier gated community of Stafford County, Virginia. We are located approximately 45 miles south of Washington DC, 15 miles north of Fredericksburg and 70 miles north of Richmond. The historic Aquia Creek runs through our community providing a year-round navigable waterway leading to the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful woodlands surround our homes and give the community the feel of a delightful country setting. “The Harbour”, as we often refer to our community, encompasses over 2,000 acres including 400 acres of protected wetlands. Wildlife abounds; you can watch osprey fish the creek and see deer feeding in the surrounding forest. We are far enough away from the city to see a myriad of stars light the evening skies but close enough to be visiting the sites of Washington, DC in under an hour.

Stafford County owns Government Island - accessible from behind Lions Park- and had been contemplating closing the Island down until they decide what they are going to do with it. The Mayor told them that our residents use the Island for dog walking, hiking etc. and asked that they reconsider. They met in the middle - GI will be closed after dark. Please make sure your teens know that anyone trespassing on the Island after dark could be charged. The AHPD will probably take the brunt of calls to Island at night. We will use discretion until the word gets out but the property is now marked. You will see the signs as you enter the property. Your cooperation is appreciated.

A reminder to residents - please do not swim in the creek until further notice. The creek water has been tested and is currently unsafe. A notice will be posted once it is safe to swim in the creek again.
