Aquia Harbour Food Bank

    The generosity of this community toward its neighbors is always touching but that has never been more true than now. The absolute full court press of Aquia Harbour neighbors wanting to help out their furloughed federal worker neighbors cannot be contained. We were trying to wait until one of the service groups or scouts could take the lead and I still hope that will happen, but in the meantime the President of the Board, Alexis Harvey, and the Board of Directors says it’s time to move our butts!

    Furlough Fridays and Pot Luck Mondays at the Harbour Inn 1417 Washington Drive until this is OVER!

    The Harbour Inn will open tomorrow (Friday) at 2:00pm to start receiving donations: Here’s what we need;
    • Volunteers to staff the Harbour Inn
    o Friday 2pm – 8pm
    o Saturday 9am – 2pm
    o Sunday 9am – 2pm
    • Grocery Bags
    • Gift Cards of any kind – Gas cards, Walmart, Target, Grocery, dining
    • Non-Perishable foods
    • Milk (we have a fridge at the Harbour Inn)
    • Toiletry Items for men and women
    • Feminine hygiene products
    • Baby food, formula and diapers and wipes

    Friday night and Saturday and Sunday 9 - 2pm, any furloughed worker in need is welcome to come shopping at the Harbour Inn FREE OF CHARGE.

    On Monday nights we will do potluck dinners. Neighbors, we need you to bring food to share Monday night. The Harbour will provide paper products, cutlery and water. We need volunteers for receiving and set up at 5pm and clean up at 8pm. Our furloughed neighbors can come by for a hot meal and some fellowship anytime between 5:30 and 8:00pm MONDAY NIGHT’s and I hope those of you donating will hang out as well.
