Job Opening at Aquia Harbour for a part-time seasonal handler.
This is currently a part-time seasonal position which benefits from an in-depth knowledge of horses and a keen attention to detail. Experience managing horses, the ability to recognize problems and solve them under pressure required.
Handlers assist the barn manager in conjunction with horse trainers, assistant trainers and riding instructors to ensure that each Association owned horse is properly exercised, receiving adequate care and ready for work. A great deal of time is spent directly with the animal and a strong sense of personal responsibility goes along with this job.
Watching each Association owned horse closely for soundness and health changes
Assisting with the overall security of the barn facility
Administering prescribed medications under the direction of the Barn Manager
General first aid
Following supplement schedules & feeding schedules
Catching, grooming and tacking an animal for riding/lessons
Ensuring their charges get adequate exercise
Supervising vet and farrier visits
Assisting trainers during the lesson program
Bi-Weekly time sheets
Close communication with the Barn Manager about the condition of Association owned horses.
Pay rate: $10 per hour
