Welcome to the Harbour Entrepreneurs List, formerly known as Maryanne’s List. This list showcases the various business owners, talents and services of the residents of Aquia Harbour.
This list is NOT a recommendation, but a directory. You must be an Aquia Harbour resident or property owner to apply to have your business or service showcased on this list. Those who have chosen to participate will be verified as Aquia Harbour residents and will be required to agree to act fairly, safely, honestly and in the best interest of their neighbors when conducting business in Aquia Harbour.
These businesses and services listed here have not been vetted and are not being recommended by the AHPOA. The AHPOA is merely acting as a collection point to populate this directory. When hiring a business or person for services it is recommended that you conduct the following due diligence;
1) Get at least two estimates.
2) Get at least two references.
3) Utilize resources like YELP, Facebook, Virginia Consumer Affairs and Virginia Better Business Bureau.
4) Get your estimate in writing.
5) Run the name through the Virginia General District Court Online Information System – Civil/ALL.
6) Confirm the physical address of the contractor.
7) Set a payment schedule in writing. For example, 10% at contract signing, followed by increments of 30% when certain benchmarks are reached.
8) For large-scale projects or certain types of projects, you may want to check things like insurance, bonding, background checks, licensing, permitting experience etc.
9) Make sure to enter any outside contractors or vehicles related to the project into your Gate Sentry Visitor Management App.
10) Consider that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true and that no business can escape some criticism but if a pattern is evident, you may want to take that into account.
