    Single digit temps.

The roads aren't the only things ice covered this morning - porches and driveways are very slick.

About 75% of our roads are ice-covered-hard-packed- snow. Four-wheel-drive's are getting out as long as they keep speeds very low - two wheel drives have about a 30% shot this morning. Most ditch diving occurs when not allowing enough following distance - slowing down going up a hill - or breaking in the downhill or the curve. Don't do that.

When leaving the Harbour the best strategy seems to be

    John Paul Jones
    Right on Cape Cod
Left on the top of Richmond
    Right on Aquia

Rt 1 & Rt 610 have some patchy areas of black ice and snow covered ice but are passable and I95 is clear but most gas stations in north Stafford are out of gas.

By this afternoon we should have some considerable melting but please pay attention road condition postings through out the day before venturing out.

    Chief Harman
